AAF’s Nand Ghar features in CII’s CSR Compendium for Transforming Lives of Rural Woman in India

AAF’s Nand Ghar

17 July 2023 – AAF’s Nand Ghar is featured in the CII’s CSR Compendium for Transforming the Lives of Rural Women in India through Skill Development.

The Nand Ghar program of the Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF) has been highlighted prominently in a compilation of CSR activities of India Inc issued by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the National Commission for Women.

Nand Ghar, an innovative social impact project by Anil Agarwal Foundation, the charitable arm of Vedanta Limited, is a model project trying to develop India’s Anganwadi ecosystem. It has transformed traditional Anganwadis, government infrastructure that addresses the education, nutrition, and health requirements of children and breastfeeding women, into “Nand Ghars” – a Home for a Young One. It strives to improve the lives of women and children in rural India by utilizing creative solutions in the areas of health, nutrition, education, and women’s empowerment through skilling.

The publication, titled Boosting Livelihood Opportunities for Women, collects the experiences of nineteen corporations that have successfully implemented initiatives to empower rural women, including landless farmers, women with disabilities, and those living in remote areas. The compilation emphasizes women’s critical role in promoting economic and social advancement, acknowledging their potential as a catalyst for increased economic growth in ‘New India.’ The compilation is a testimonial to Anil Agarwal Foundation’s excellent CSR work in empowering women in rural and semi-urban areas by developing sustainable livelihoods for them.

The Anil Agarwal Foundation is the umbrella organization for Vedanta’s community and social projects. The Foundation’s priority areas are healthcare, women and child development, animal welfare projects, and sports initiatives. Through sustainable and inclusive growth, the Anil Agarwal Foundation aspires to empower communities, alter lives, and assist nation building.
