ACC completes its 5th Lift Irrigation Project, Uplifting Farmers & Transforming Agriculture in Punjab

The diversified Adani Group’s cement and construction material company, ACC Limited, is pleased to announce the completion of its 5th Lift Irrigation Project in Dhakori Village, Ludhiana District, Punjab. The Company’s goal is to transform agricultural practices and assure the availability of optimal water supplies all year long, thereby improving the livelihoods of local farmers. 

The lift irrigation project was started to prevent water loss and provide water to higher locations. ACC has put in place cutting-edge ‘Lift Irrigation Technology,’ which includes a GPS thorough survey to identify the quickest route and static level difference. To ensure that main stakeholders are fully involved in the process, a detailed baseline survey was undertaken with key local stakeholders, including Gram Sevak and Farmers Group members.

ACC has been educating the people about the multiple benefits linked with the Lift Irrigation Project. Furthermore, a Farmers Group was formed and registered with the ATMA (Agricultural Technology Management Agency) department. To get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the lift water system, ACC worked with the Irrigation Department. 

This project has had a huge impact in Dhakori village. During the farming seasons, water is lifted from the river as needed, and over 100 acres of land are effectively irrigated, supporting several farming families. Farmers’ annual revenues have increased significantly as a result of the increased availability of water. Furthermore, the Lift Irrigation Project assures that water is available for the entire village community during emergencies.  

ACC and the Adani Foundation are working to bring about a paradigm shift in agricultural techniques by securing the long-term availability of water supplies for local farmers. Our goal is to empower the farming community, improve their lives, and increase agricultural output by using effective irrigation systems.
