A mobile medical unit has been deployed by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India), a joint venture between the two largest steel producers in the world—ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel—to provide doorstep healthcare delivery in Hazira and other nearby villages to its steel plant at Hazira.
The mobile medical unit, which was created through a partnership between AM-NS India’s CSR division and HelpAge India, is furnished with a sphygmomanometer, sample collection tools, weighing scales, and other tools to offer rural residents free access to basic healthcare services. While visiting villages, the mobile medical unit will be accompanied by a doctor who will treat the locals. Additionally, patients will receive free prescription medications.
Dr. Brijesh Shukla, CNH, Hazira, Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head of CSR at AM-NS India, and Dr. Anil Matoo, Head of Human Resource Operations, IR, and Administration, flagged off the mobile medical unit in front of representatives and employees from AM/NS India.
“Our CSR initiatives place a lot of emphasis on the health sector. The mobile medical unit will provide preventive healthcare services and promote wellness for the local communities, which are the focus of all of our CSR initiatives and projects. The mobile medical unit will increase access to healthcare in the close-by villages, claims Dr. Matoo.
