Anil Agarwal Foundation to invest on animal welfare projects
TACO — The Animal Care Organization, a first-of-its-kind animal care organisation, has been launched by the Anil Agarwal Foundation, the charitable arm of Vedanta Group, India’s foremost diversified natural resources company.
Anil Agarwal Foundation signed an MoU with the Haryana government to adopt Tapobhoomi Gaushala in Faizupur Khadar, Faridabad, as a model animal sanctuary to commemorate the introduction of TACO.
In the presence of Shri. Rajesh Nagar, Hon’ble MLA from Tigaon, Krishan Pal Gurjar, Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries and Member of Parliament for Faridabad, formally handed over the Gaushala to Ms. Ritu Jhingon, Director – Group Communications, Vedanta Ltd.
Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, CEO, Anil Agarwal Foundation, Shri. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad, and Shri Trilok Chand, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Ballabhgarh were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
TACO will update the shelter infrastructure and manage the animal shelter operations, collaborating with KPMG on the project design, the National Veterinary Foundation on technical support, and YODA, a well-known animal welfare NGO, on implementation.

“The Anil Agarwal Foundation has launched out a Rs. 5000 Crore socio-economic development roadmap for the next 5 years for the holistic development of rural India and Animal Welfare is one of the new emphasis areas for us under this roadmap”, she added.
Under the new initiative TACO, Anil Agarwal Foundation seeks to support and expand veterinary healthcare services across Delhi-NCR and Mumbai regions. With an initial capital of Rs. 100 crores, the project will begin in the National Capital Region (NCR) and would be expanded across numerous Indian states.
TACO will be a three-tiered framework that will work together to establish worldwide animal welfare standards.
Advanced animal healthcare, preventative veterinary treatment, the spay and neuter programme, diagnostics, and mobile emergency care units will be the focus of the proposed multi-specialty veterinary hospital. The Animal Shelter will focus on rescue, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care, animal housing services, nutrition, and well-being, while the Academy will offer short-term training to veterinarians, paraprofessionals, and animal enthusiasts.
