Ayati Devices Private Ltd to Save Millions of Feet
Ayati Devices Private Ltd – India has the second-highest rate of diabetes in the entire world. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) recently reported that 74 million persons in India had diabetes. An rising number of diabetics are at danger of getting retinopathy, which affects the eyes, nephropathy, which affects the kidneys, and neuropathy, which affects the nerve system. Diabetes patients also have a higher prevalence of heart ailments, strokes, and peripheral artery disease. Nearly 50% of diabetics experience neuropathy, or nerve damage, throughout the course of their lifetimes. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends that all diabetics receive foot examinations at least once a year because early neuropathy symptoms are not always apparent.
The available neuropathy screening methods are large, time-consuming, difficult to transport to remote locations, and expensive. At the community level, there is currently a need for more precise and early identification of peripheral nerve injury. Engineer Nishant Kathpal (M.tech-IIT B) recognised this and developed Vibrasense, a portable, inexpensive gadget that may be used to screen for neuropathy. On February 9th, 2019, Ayati Devices was established in Mumbai with the goal of bringing technical advancements to healthcare and addressing its issues. It focuses on cutting-edge diabetes healthcare equipment. Ayati is a multidisciplinary team of experts dedicated to leverage technology to develop ground-breaking medical treatments. The Ayati team has backgrounds in both engineering and medicine.
The neuropathy screening tool has been greatly enhanced, and Vibrasense allows doctors to work faster without sacrificing accuracy. Additionally, it aids neuropathy sufferers in tracking the development of their ailment, which helps with treatment. The vibration perception threshold (VPT), or the lowest vibratory intensity at which a subject senses vibration stimuli, is what Vibrasense assesses. VPT is frequently used to screen for dysfunction of big nerves in diabetes mellitus and is compromised at an early stage in several neuropathies. A clinically established technique for screening, early diagnosis, and long-term follow-up of diabetic neuropathy is VPT testing. The likelihood of developing foot ulcers in people with diabetes has also been proven to be accurately predicted by VPT readings.

Due to the significant impact the gadget was having, Ayati was later selected for incubation at the Dayananda Sagar Entrepreneurship Research and Business Incubation (DERBI) Foundation. In addition to financial investment, DERBI provided Ayati Devices with mentorship and an incubation facility. Having access to the DERBI’s PRAYAS Shala testing facility was also advantageous to the company. The NIDHI Seed Support System Investment (NIDHI SSS) and the Emerge Acceleration programme award of six lakhs for community deployment were two significant financing from the DERBI Foundation sponsored by NSTEDB, DST, and GoI that Ayati obtained. A significant connection made at the Dr. Chandra Dayananda Sagar Institute of Medical Education and Research in rural Bangalore as a consequence of DERBI’s assistance led to the conduct of clinical trials and other business-related activities.
Through its many clients, Ayati Devices has so far assisted in the screening of more than 1 lakh patients. The primary public hospitals in Mumbai run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation also employ the gadget. Recently, the Maharashtra government granted directives to assist Ayati in deploying the technology in 8 districts.
The company also participates in a number of medical camps. One of the main advantages of the Vibrasense device is that it is battery-powered and can assess 70 to 100 persons on a single charge. This is ideal for medical camps in far-off places where, in the lack of electricity, clinicians may examine a large number of diabetic patients for neuropathy.
The business has received numerous start-up accolades from all around the world, including the Best Startup Award from ATTD in Spain and the Best Startup Award in the Healthcare Category from the Indian IoT Congress in Bangalore. Top 10 startups in Go Global India Program invited by UK Government’s International Tech Hub-London, Top 10 startups in AIT- Indo-Swiss Program, Switzerland Top 50 startups from 2500 international entries in the Singapore-based LKYG Business Plan Competition. It won the STPI ESC Start-Up Initiative – Building the Next Unicorn at the Karnataka Start-up Conclave and was also invited to Mass Challenge Accelerator in Switzerland to learn more about the European market.
