Eco-Friendly Way of Twin Gujarat Events of Ayush Ministry Inspire
Ayush Ministry Inspire – Environmental concerns and consciousness are becoming more prevalent among organizations and leaders around the world, and this is reflected in their actions. The Ministry of Ayush’s eco-friendly initiatives and arrangements at two recent events in Gujrat demonstrated the same. During the activities, an estimated 1 lakh plastic bottles, 15000 plastic tags, and 50 thousand plastic cutlery were avoided, resulting in a carbon dioxide equivalent reduction of 119437.5 kg (Co2e).
In addition, countries, organizations, and entities from all around the world are banding together to combat evils like single-use plastic. “Single-use plastic is not only damaging to people’s health, but it is also a major cause of land degradation,” says Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 14th session of the Conference of Parties (CoP-14) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
The Ministry of Ayush’s just finished activities in Gujrat demonstrated the government’s intention to lead by example in this direction.
In the presence of Mauritius’ Prime Minister, Sh. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, and the World Health Organization’s Director General,
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for the world’s first WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) during a ground-breaking ceremony held in Jamnagar on April 19th, and inaugurated the 3-day Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit (GAIIS) on April 20th. The huge events reflected the country’s determination to reduce single-use plastic and reduce carbon emissions. Both events were world-renowned and drew the attention of the international community.

Diverse communities of stakeholders praised the innovative eco-friendly approaches used in the organisation of these two events. Furthermore, the GAIIS event included debates and exhibitions throughout the summit and displayed environmental conscience in action by implementing a variety of measures in the event’s planning. Because single-use plastic, such as plastic water bottles, plates, cups, and neck badges, is a major pollutant, the event employed reusable silverware, glass bottles, paper tags, and paper cups.
“The exhibition aims to highlight a variety of environmental issues and solutions, such as waste auditing and segregation processes and their effective management, as well as grey water management and possible recycling, use of renewable source of energy, converting barren empty lands to biodiversity parks to retain biodiversity,” said Mr. Anand Chordia, Founder, The Eco Factory Foundation.

Furthermore, Dr. Pratik Mehta, an environmentalist, stated that the Microplastic evil was recently revealed in 80% of human blood samples studied, and he insisted on living and sustaining as much as possible without plastic.
The event’s organizers were overjoyed as they shared the results of their eco-friendly efforts in the form of numbers. It was stated that, due to the magnitude of the two events, it is expected that over 1 lakh plastic bottles, 15000 plastic tags, and 50 thousand plastic cutlery were not used during the event. Furthermore, it was calculated that, when the carbon emission scenario is taken into account, the three-day event was able to reduce CO2e emissions by a factor of three.
