CapitaLand Hope School in Bangalore
In order to give more than 400 children from underprivileged families access to education, the CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), the charitable arm of the CapitaLand Group, has opened its second CapitaLand Hope School in Bangalore, India. The school, the 31st of the CapitaLand Hope Schools spread across India, China, and Vietnam, was built with a contribution of INR 50 million from CHF. CHF wants to give kids a holistic education through the schools so they can have a better start in life.
The 20,000 square foot Government Kannada and English Medium Higher Primary School in Krishnarajapuram, Bangalore, has eight classrooms, a staff room, a multipurpose room, a playground, a kitchen, a sick room, a library, science and computer labs, an art and craft room, and restrooms.
Over the course of a year, volunteers and partners from CapitaLand‘s workforce worked together to construct the school. Staff from CapitaLand’s International Tech Park in Bangalore supplied the Karnataka Education Department with their real estate know-how, including designing and overseeing the creation of the school. The Hope Wall, created by modern Indian artist Madhuri Umashankar, was revealed on September 19, 2022 during a ceremony marking the transfer of ownership of the school.

Additionally, CHF teamed up with the worldwide non-profit organization Room to Read to stock the school library with books that will help the kids’ literacy. Since opening libraries in Bangalore for the benefit of almost 2,000 kids in March 2022, CHF and Room to Read have built a total of 14.
“We are tremendously happy to complete our second Hope School in Bangalore to support over 400 children and their immediate families,” stated Mr. Gauri Nagabhushanam, Chief Executive Officer, India Business Park, CapitaLand Investment. We have invested more than INR 100 million in the development of three schools—two in Bangalore and an impending school in Pune—because we are passionate about education. We actively participate in the construction of the schools, keep the kids engaged, and make contributions in a variety of other ways, such as by providing goods and planning events for the kids. As our company expands in India, it is quite encouraging to be able to reach out and make a difference in the lives of the locals.
