CSR focus shifts – Ahmedabad: Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the government and the private sector have redoubled their efforts to improve the healthcare infrastructure as well as people’s general health and wellbeing. Clearly, the healthcare sector has experienced a large increase in corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending as compared to other industries. In actuality, the healthcare industry makes up almost 50% of the total.

Gujarat will spend in 2020–21. According to information provided on the National CSR Portal, out of the total expenditure of Rs 1,166 crore, Rs 585 crore was spent on healthcare.
Since the epidemic, people have however come to understand the value of public health and the necessity of bolstering the infrastructure, even beyond Covid-19. As a result, a sizable amount of money was directed towards the healthcare industry.
Funds that were redirected from other areas during the epidemic were used to battle COVID-19, according to Shah.
All over India, there is a growing trend in healthcare spending. CSR spending on healthcare increased by 12% in absolute terms across India from Rs 4,886 crore in 2019–20 to Rs 5,474 crore in 2020–21.
