Essar donates water filters

Essar Foundation has always been at the forefront of efforts to improve communities and society. Water filters were provided to D-WARD of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation by Essar Foundation and Essar Ports in support of the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” introduced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi (BMC). About 2,000 BMC sanitation workers will benefit from having access to clean and safe drinking water thanks to the water filters (Safai Karmacharis).

The Safai Karmacharis are essential to the ecosystem that makes sanitation work, including picking up trash, cleaning gutters, roads, and sewage, among other things. Despite the fact that their labour guarantees a clean atmosphere for all inhabitants, it frequently comes at the expense of them being exposed to extremely difficult settings and the possibility of many health hazards for themselves and their family.

Essar Foundation constantly works to carry out programmes aimed at the health and hygiene of the most vulnerable and underprivileged parts of society with the help of group enterprises. The gift was given as part of the “Essar Cares” project in appreciation of the vital job they undertake for our community and the effect their efforts have on the country’s goal of cleanliness.

Mr. Dominic DSouza, Chief Operating Officer – CSR, Essar Foundation, Mr. Girish Manohar Patki, Head-Security, and Ms. Payal Chhabra, Advisor – Essar Foundation, presented the water filters to Mr. Srikant Rathod, Incharge of BMC Safai Karmacharis (D-WARD).

Mr. Shrikant Rathod commented on the effort, saying, “Last month, the Safai Karmacharis petitioned the BMC requesting that water filters be placed at the chowkies. Essar’s initiative to support our employees is a blessing. This is a wonderful gesture from the business.
