The Global Rainbow Foundation (GRF) kick starts its India operations
Together with TorchIt, India’s first university-based research park, and the IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP), the Global Rainbow Foundation Charitable Trust launched its operations in India today. Shri K. Rajaraman IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Tennessee; Dr. Homiyar Mobedji, Disability Expert, Program Head – [Asia & Africa], Benetech; Mr. Rajkumar, Founder, Global Rainbow Foundation.
More than 50 people with disabilities (PwD) attended the event, along with professionals in the disability field and assistive technology entrepreneurs from the IITM Incubation Cell. Artists and accomplished members of the disabled community gave captivating performances in conjunction with the celebrations, and GRF honoured them. Ten AI-powered “Smart Canes” created by Torchit were also presented to beneficiaries by Hunny Bhagchandani, founder of TorchIt Electronics, in addition to the event.
Global Rainbow Foundation
The Global Rainbow Foundation (GRF) was established by Prof. Armoogum Parsuramen G.O.S.K. in Mauritius on November 11, 2011, with the goal of empowering people who are differently abled and vulnerable groups through educating, enabling, and empowering people with disabilities.
Over the past ten years, GRF has made significant efforts in Mauritius to empower, educate, and advocate for people with disabilities. It also offers them the chance for holistic human development so they can live happy and fulfilling lives.
After more than ten years of supporting the disabled population in Mauritius, Dr. Armoogum Parsuramen GOSK, the founder and president of the Global Rainbow Foundation, stated, “We are now ready to transfer this wonderful idea to India and serve the people here. We have been fervently striving to empower people with disabilities in a variety of ways, and one of those methods is by providing them with assistive technology that facilitates simple mobility. We are grateful for the assistance of IIT Madras Research Park, and it is an honour to work with them to officially start our business in India.
