Science and technology have boundless potential to operate in concert with CSR for the greater good of nation-building. IIT Madras conducted a roundtable meeting titled ‘Explore and Grow—CSR Partnerships’ in Mumbai on December 16, 2021, with the purpose of making tech-driven CSR activities.
The focus of the event was on an emerging trend in India’s CSR: the use of technology to create change on the ground. CSR heads and corporate leaders from a variety of industries were present throughout the evening.
Panel talks with recognized expert academics from IIT Madras on socially important projects that have resulted from Institute Research were part of the program. Affordable healthcare, sustainable urban infrastructure development, algorithms to tackle real-world problems, and changing the edu-skilling arena were among the topics discussed by the panels. The speakers highlighted tech-driven solutions that have the potential to transform rural development, sanitation, agriculture, and higher education.
IIT Madras’ Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) actively administers alumni donations, converting them into endowments, funding for new infrastructure, and scholarship support for needy, deserving students. The OIA has been working on different CSR projects and other philanthropic efforts with alumni and corporations, with an emphasis on achieving revolutionary social change.
