Ingersoll Rand India and parents to Implement Nature-Based Solutions
New Delhi: Ingersoll Rand India Limited, in collaboration with SEEDS (Sustainable Ecological & Environmental Development Society) and GMDA (Gurugram Municipal Development Authority), built Lake View Park adjacent to Wazirabad Lake in Gurugram, Haryana, with the goal of mobilising nature to make urban areas more resilient to climate change. The park is 2 acres in size and is bordered by high-rise structures, an 18-acre waterbody, and a few undeveloped lots in the midst of the city’s rapid growth.
Lake View Park, for example, can not only tap into the earth’s carbon sequestering properties, but also provide major flood prevention and other advantages. Cities suffer a slew of social, economic, and environmental issues that are predicted to worsen as urbanization and climate change take hold. Environmental elements strategically placed in open places increase urban resilience and provide a wide range of ecosystem benefits.

“Cities are vulnerable to climate-related hazards, including the urban heat island effect and localised flooding,” according to the report. Climate change mitigation through urban greening is a viable strategy. Parks, gardens, and green walls, among other nature-based remedies, are critical in combating flash floods and metropolitan heat. Given the pandemic’s disproportionate impact on already vulnerable groups, green buffers such as Lake View Park in metropolitan areas have never been more critical. We were able to build a successful urban green space thanks to the essential help of GMDA and Ingersoll Rand India,” adds Dr Manu Gupta, SEEDS Co-Founder.
The park is not only built to act as a carbon sink, but it also has a playground and multi-gym equipment for visitors to use for leisure activities. In the park, benches have been constructed for people to rest and socialize. A prefabricated toilet complex has been erected, as well as specially designed sidewalks for running or walking. Residents will benefit from Lake View Park, which will not only improve social cohesion but also aid in urban renewal.
Several dignitaries, including Subhash Yadav, Additional CEO, GMDA; Mr. Amar Kaul, Chairman, Ingersoll Rand India Limited; and Dr. Manu Gupta, were present at the inaugural ceremony, which took place at Lake View Park, Wazirabad, Sector-53, Gurugram.
