Essar provides shelter for Jay Janardan Swami Aashram in Nashik
Jay Janardan Swami Aashram – Essar Foundation, the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, continues to assist community development. It has achieved a new milestone by providing a new residence and basic necessities to the inmates of the ‘Jay Janardan Swami Aashram‘ in Lasalgaon, Nashik, enabling them to live comfortably.
The Jay Janardan Swami Aashram, an orphanage and home for abandoned older adults, is located in the Maharashtra interiors, in the little town of Lasalgaon, about 320 kilometres from Mumbai.
The Essar Foundation has been assisting the Aashram in the construction of their new premises, which will serve as living quarters for the residents and will also safeguard their well-being.
Mr. Dominic Dsouza, Essar Foundation’s COO, said, “Essar Foundation is living up to Essar’s vision of ‘Creating Value’ not just for its internal and external stakeholders, but also for communities.”

It brings us great joy to support Jay Janardan Swami Aashram in its efforts to build a comprehensive, human-centered development and improve the quality of life for its people.”
Mr Dilip Gunjal, Secretary, Jay Janardan Swami Orphanage, said in his testimonial, “The Essar Foundation has taken us under its wings and has supplied us with the highest contribution since the foundation of the Aashram.”
We’d like to express our gratitude to Essar for their wonderful support in assisting us in providing refuge for our children.”
Mr Dilip Baburao Gunjal and Mrs Sangeeta Dilip Gunjal administer the Aashram, which houses about 90 children (including disabled and mentally challenged children) and around 20 senior residents. The children were primarily orphaned or abandoned at a young age, and they were rehabilitated thanks to the Aashram’s continuing compassion and efforts. Once they became famous, several of the seniors were tragically evicted by their own family.
