Mahindra Group signs MoU with Gates Foundation

In order to help women’s economic development in India, the Mahindra Group and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Mahindra Group has committed to affecting 1 million women annually starting in 2026, and this two-year MOU is a significant step in that direction.

The Mahindra Group, a leader in ESG globally, hopes that this collaboration would serve as a catalyst for India to accomplish UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 5 on gender equality.

Dr. Anish Shah, managing director and CEO of the Mahindra Group, and Mr. Hari Menon, director of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s India country office, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

The collaboration will focus on initiatives that support impoverished women’s economic empowerment in the field of gender equality. The scope will encompass cooperation between the two organisations on joint initiatives and with important stakeholders, including the government, institutions, NGOs, businesses, etc.

This collaboration is essential to our Rise philosophy, which aims to improve the quality of life in our neighbourhoods. Together, we will develop a cooperative platform that, by utilising the power of technology, will offer comprehensive answers to poor women all around the nation and allow us to “Rise for a more equal world.”

“We are pleased to cooperate with the Mahindra Group to achieve our common purpose of speeding progress towards India’s national vision for gender equality and women’s economic empowerment,” stated Mr. Hari Menon, Director, India Country Office, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The lofty objectives of this alliance to increase women’s employment and foster greater societal and economic empowerment are inspiring.

In accordance with the terms of the MoU, the two groups will collaborate to conduct research and analysis, carry out initiatives, and assess the results in order to advance women’s empowerment. The key to achieving gender equality, the end of poverty, and inclusive economic growth is women’s empowerment.
