Ministry of Defence may approach private companies about CSR
Ministry of Defence – The Ministry of Defense (MoD) is expected to knock on the doors of private firms in Cantonment regions to adopt a corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme in educational and health facilities.
After a meeting in Delhi recently, the standing committee on defense, which included 20 Lok Sabha MPs and 10 Rajya Sabha members, passed certain proposals in both houses and referred them to the Ministry of Defence for approval.
The CSR scheme was approved by the standing committee after the Cantonments experienced resource constraints and infrastructure development issues. This recommendation was warmly received by the All Cantonments Citizens’ Welfare Association. “CSR is vital to uplift the needy parts of society,” its general secretary, Jitender Surana, said.
