Skating Champion Durga Gunjal received sponsorship
Skating Champion Durga Gunjal – Essar Foundation, Essar’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, declared its sponsorship and affiliation with ‘Durga Gunjal,’ a young district and state level skating champion. Durga, who is eight years old, won the inter-district championship in the under-14 age category and recently represented Maharashtra at the national level in Goa, where she earned the bronze medal.
Essar Foundation has reached out to support the exceptional skater, deciding to pay her training, equipment, nutrition, and travel as a result of her love and promise in the sport. Despite being one of the youngest competitors, the Foundation had also supported her complete trip to Goa for the National Level Skating Tournament, where she proved her worth and won the bronze medal.

Durga’s passion for skating began when she watched older students at a nearby institution indulging in the sport. Her coach swiftly trained her with her enormous potential for District and State championships, where her talent shone brightly and she won a gold medal. Durga, at eight years old, embarked on a trip that eventually led her to Goa, where she represented Maharashtra in the inter-state nationals in December 2021.
Durga was found in a garbage can and taken in by Mr Dilip Baburao Gunjal and Mrs Sangeeta Dilip Gunjal, who adopted her. Durga was quickly enrolled in a skating academy, where she demonstrated tremendous potential in the sport. Durga
