Students of BALCO supported schools bring laurels in 12th Board Exams
BALCO – Korba, Chhattisgarh, July 31, 2021: Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer, is committed to improving the standard of education in Balconagar, Korba. In a recent feat of achievement, all 79 students in Class XII of Delhi Public School – Balconagar, which is supported by the company, have sailed through with flying colors in the 12th CBSE Board Examinations for the academic session 2020-21. With 26 students securing more than 90% marks, and 100% students securing first division, their exemplary results stand testimony to the relentless efforts of the academia, community and the company. BALCO has been running many stellar education programs in the region and is assisting over 15 schools in Balconagar, whose students are excelling in every field today.
Extending his congratulations to the students for their academic performance Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO & Director, BALCO said, “BALCO has invested heavily in the development of educational facilities since its inception, with the objective of nurturing quality education in the region. The journey of five and a half decades of BALCO is more than the journey of thriving industrialization, but it is the journey of significant socio-economic development in and around Korba. We are happy to see our efforts become fruitful in transforming the education landscape in Balconagar, positively affecting the lives of thousands of students and youth in the region.”
Mr. Hitanand Agrawal, Councilor of Ward 35 of BALCO, expressed his happiness over the excellent academic performance of the schools in Balconagar area. He applauded the efforts of BALCO Management for bringing not just economic reforms but equally changes in education, health, self-reliance, infrastructure development, etc. in rural areas. The expansion of BALCO has increased employment opportunities for the region’s citizenry in the last two decades.
BALCO is also running ‘Project Connect’ under its community development program to support students from marginal communities who do not have the financial means to avail private tuitions. The BALCO Vedanta Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre, managed by Inner Wheel Education Society, is working to improve the lives of differently-abled children in the periphery by making physiotherapy, speech therapy, work therapy and behaviour therapy available to them.
In 2019, the company started Chhattisgarh’s first skill training center for the specially-abled youth at Divya Jyoti Hostel premises in Korba. This center provides training in beautician courses, hospitality, basic computer skills as well as tailoring. Vedanta College and Rehabilitation Centre for the deaf and blind is also playing an important role in making differently-abled youths financially independent.
