Swiss Re launches social entrepreneurial accelerator – 5th edition
Social entrepreneurial accelerator – Shine is a transformative leadership development programme open to all early-stage social entrepreneurs with the purpose of driving ideas that increase India’s societal resilience.
This entrepreneurship programme intends to assist next-generation social innovators in turning their ideas into scalable business models with the goal of maximizing social impact.
Shine wants to work with and support applicants who want to make a difference in the areas of Net Zero, Climate Smart Agriculture, Disaster Risk Reduction, Access to Health, and Healthy Nutrition.
Social entrepreneurial accelerator
Social enterprise applications are now being accepted across India. Shine applications are due by June 8, 2022. The application form can be found on the Swiss Re Foundation website.

What does it mean for start-ups?
A six-month immersive learning programme based on design thinking, in collaboration with a diversified and competent team of top talent in Swiss Re Bangalore, to develop a financially sustainable and scalable business plan to drive the company’s growth.
Personalized leadership and business coaching from mentors in accordance with international standards sharpened focus and approach to scaling business.
Shine has assisted two social entrepreneurs in scaling up their company ideas during the previous two years. Sunbird Straws (2020) invented the world’s first eco-friendly coconut leaf straws using unique in-house technology. With industrial units in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, they employ rural women.
Swiss Re backed HydroGreens in 2021, a company that employs solar-powered climate-controlled multipurpose grow buildings to provide high-protein “Fodder Produce” to small and marginal dairy producers.
