Hindustan Zinc trains Sakhi women as Master Trainers under Uthori CSR effort
Uthori CSR effort – Udaipur: Hindustan Zinc hosted a three-day Uthori Gender Equality workshop as part of its ‘Sakhi’ women empowerment initiative, where they organized the second round of training to develop 47 Sakhi rural and tribal women as master trainers. Gender specialist Dr. Rakesh Singh from Delhi, Shashiprabha from Udaipur, and Manjari Foundation’s Program Officer – Shivaom trained women from Zawar, Debari, Chittorgarh, Dariba, Agucha, and Kayad in Kasa, Udaipur.
The main purpose of the Sakhi project is to interact with women and build groups in order to promote future livelihoods, economic development, and social development through these groups and organizations. The Uthori Campaign is being carried out by Sakhi in two states, six districts, seven locations, eleven blocks, and 54 panchayats. In the first phase, around 17000 rural and tribal Sakhi women were educated on basic gender equality principles.
Citizenship, the constitution, gender equality, behavior and social conduct in society, solution strategy, and sexuality were all discussed during this three-day phase 2 session. Using a range of creative activities, videos, and other mediums, these women will be supported in overcoming this complex dilemma. These women will now disseminate awareness and teach the communities around them as master trainers. In partnership with the Manjari Foundation, the campaign was carried out.

The Sakhi project encourages women to form grassroots organizations such as Self Help Groups (SHGs) to help them achieve their goals. By enhancing their leadership, skill development, personal finance, and entrepreneurship skills, and introducing women empowerment into the society, the Sakhi initiative helps women overcome socioeconomic constraints and impediments.
