Books play an important role in students’ lives, opening them a world of imagination for them. Books not only enhance their lives, but they also strengthen their brains, supply additional knowledge, boost memory, and do a variety of other things. To improve student access to books, Vi Foundation, the CSR arm of leading telecom operator Vi, has launched Donate Book (www.donatebook.in), a book donation platform that brings together book donors, organizations/schools in need of books, and NGOs working for the cause. This initiative is part of the Vi Foundation’s Connecting for Good program, which strives to bridge the gap between those who have access to books and those who do not.
On Teacher’s Day, renowned poet Padma Shri Surender Sharma, Mr. Rishabh Jain- Content creator, Entrepreneur, and Educator, and P Balaji, Director, Vodafone Foundation and Chief Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Officer, Vodafone Idea, announced a one-of-a-kind solution. On this occasion, the Vi Foundation also published ‘Teachers Diary,’ a collection of genuine stories of amazing and inspiring teachers from throughout India who have been acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to education. This book pays tribute to teachers around the country who have a tremendous impact on students’ lives and contribute to nation-building.
“Education is a big focus area for us at Vodafone Idea Foundation,” said P Balaji, Chief Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Officer, VIL, of the program. We believe in harnessing technology in this domain to improve the quality of education and learning results for children from underserved communities and rural India, where such resources are few. This goal inspired the Donate Book campaign. We believe there is a vast pool of book givers eager to assist deserving kids. We will give these contributors with a simple and easy-to-use tool for donating books. Initially available in Pune and Jaipur, we plan to expand to many more towns and cities across India in the following months. Our goal is to get there.
Vi Foundation
Donate Book platform brings together a network of people working hard for the cause of book donation, making book donation and collection a hassle-free experience.
Book donors: Anyone who wants to give away some books can simply log into the platform and contribute books. Based on the level of interest, Vi Foundation, in collaboration with its implementation partner Moinee Foundation, will pick up the books from their home and deliver them to those in need. In areas where the implementation partner is unable to reach, the Donate Book platform (www.donatebook.in) allows the donor to courier it to a specific spot, which is subsequently taken forward by the foundation, therefore contributing to the enormous inventory of books.
Individuals in need of books: Organizations or schools in need of books can start a campaign on the portal at the same time, requesting individuals to donate books. The Vi Foundation and Moinee Foundation teams will monitor and manage this to ensure a quick resolution.
