The Vodafone Idea Foundation’s Skill Training Center for Youth in Hamirpur is officially opened by Shri Anurag Thakur, the Government of India’s Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports.
The youth are the main characters in India’s economic growth story, which is on track to become the fastest expanding economy in the world. The Vodafone Idea Foundation, Vi’s CSR arm, established a skill training centre in Hamirpur to provide dedicated employment-linked skill training to socially and economically disadvantaged youth in the area. This was done with the intention of helping to upskill and build a future-ready talent force. In the presence of P Balaji, Chief Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Officer, VIL, Director, Vodafone Idea Foundation, the centre was officially opened by Sh. Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. He also presented certificates to some of the program’s initial “graduates.”
In order to forward the government of India’s initiative to promote digital literacy, Union Minister Anurag Thakur also launched off the Vodafone Idea Foundation’s “Jaadu Ginni Ka” mobile van on this occasion.
Anurag Singh Thakur, the Hon’ble Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, commented on this innovative programme, saying, “At a time when we are moving forward to building a new India, preparing the youth to be part of a skilled workforce and aiding their economic and personal empowerment is of the utmost importance. It is our responsibility to make sure that young people have plenty of possibilities for growth. In the past eight years, we’ve launched a number of initiatives targeted at upskilling, extending credit, and setting up India to become the country with the greatest trained workforce in the world.
The effort of today is a step in that direction, and I am pleased to see engagement from top corporations like Vodafone Idea who have stepped forward to teach young people in skills and support local talent. He continued, “I am also pleased to learn that Vodafone Idea Foundation’s mobile van under the supervision of PMGDISHA will provide communities in the region with training on financial and digital literacy, which is an essential life skill for everyone. I expect to see even more corporations step up to collaborate on skill-building projects specific to their industry.
India has one of the youngest populations in the world, according to P. Balaji, Chief Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Officer, VIL, Director, Vodafone Idea Foundation, when discussing the organization’s dedication to the country’s youth. For the youth, particularly at the grassroots, the vision of a new India necessitates skills, new knowledge, and possibilities for continuous work. Our skill training initiative serves as an example of a ready model that covers the complete skills to employment cycle from beginning to end, is local, affordable, and easily scalable. Similar to this, our “Jaadu Ginni Ka” effort aims to offer a thorough financial literacy development programme in order to raise awareness of financial literacy and promote financial inclusion in the nation. We appreciate the direction of Union Minister Shri Anurag Thakur and the assistance and support of the district officers.
