Welspun India get prestigious National Water Award 2022
The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation has awarded Welspun India Limited, a global leader in home textile, the National Water Award. The award was given in appreciation of Welspun’s cutting-edge sewage treatment plant in the drought-prone Kutch district’s social and environmental impact.
The 40 MLD* sewage treatment plant, which was completed in 2016, uses cutting-edge wastewater treatment technology to recycle urban sewage water as high-quality clean water for industrial usage, making it one of India’s first such facilities. This allowed Welspun to achieve 0% freshwater usage for industrial applications at its Anjar manufacturing facility, while also reducing the pollution caused by the flow of untreated municipal sewage into the sea prior to the STP Plant’s commissioning. Furthermore, Welspun pays the Urban Authority a Royalty of almost 50 lakhs per year, which is currently being utilized for various urban development efforts. In addition, the facility has offered assistance.
