AcSELerate growth with Learning Curve
AcSELerate growth – We have a popular saying in India: “One who is only book clever may not be smart at all.” This is where we can see how focusing solely on educating children may not ensure a happy and prosperous future for them. There are numerous efforts being made to first inform youngsters. It’s understandable to prioritize what’s most important. But, with Learning Curve, the concept is actually fairly simple: why leave something half-finished if they are working on it?
Learning Curve Life Skills Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 with the goal of promoting children’s entire development. They work with children from low-income families to help them become emotionally balanced, socially responsible, and make informed decisions that will lead them along a better route in life. The acSELerate programme is the name given to this programme.
Learning Curve participates in the following activities as part of this programme:
- Workshops on social-emotional skills for teachers
- Material, SEL curriculum, lesson plans, and an engagement tools for teachers
- Monthly visits to partner schools to provide instructional support
- Workshops for school administrators on how to create positive learning environments
- Conducting parent education workshops on child behaviour and how to establish a supportive home environment

‘Ready for the world’ sessions are held as part of this programme. The positive effects of these sessions can be seen in the student’s personality over time. Airpula Akshara is one of these students. She is a bright, active ninth-grade student at KGBV Tandur. During one of the conversations, Akshara mentioned that she had noticed a shift in her own conduct over the two years she had been attending these ‘Ready for the World’ seminars. She understands viewpoints and has better control over her fury. Akshara’s parents agreed that they see a more understanding, adaptive, and positive side of her when they interacted with her.
These sessions, according to Akshara, are “special” and “interesting” because of their practical aspect. They are held twice a week and include a variety of stickers and badges as rewards for the pupils. In one of these instances, Akshara received a Superstar badge, which she claimed gave her confidence and made her feel responsible and respected.
Learning Curve Foundation also offers a few seminars and webinars for instructors in addition to these programmes for children. During the lockdown, these Lead Well webinars inspired and assisted many instructors. Ch. Manjula is one of these teachers. She attended the webinars and noticed a significant change in herself. Her family praised her for how well she handled the financial issue and remained cool during the lockdown. She also assisted area teachers by attending webinars on creative skills and critical thinking.
