YES Foundation and HPPI to teach impoverished women to develop and run businesses
YES Foundation and HPPI partner – The DISHA training programme was created by the YES Foundation and Humana People to People India (HPPI) to assist marginalised women in rural regions in setting up and running their own nano businesses. Over the course of three years, the DISHA programme will train and guide over 36,000 Rajasthani women in entrepreneurship and company development, expanding their pool of livelihood options.
The training programme intends to help disadvantaged women become economically self-sufficient by supporting women-led companies, especially in the aftermath of COVID-19, which has wreaked havoc on the sector. Beneficiaries will receive creation and expansion support for their nano businesses, as well as rural self-employment connections, as part of the initiative.
According to the NITI Aayog SDG Report 2020-21, the ratio of female to male labour force participation in Rajasthan was 19.3 per cent, slightly higher than India’s average (17.5 per cent), and the state had a poor Gender Index ranking.
“The concentrated training project’s purpose is to give women more entrepreneurial possibilities, improving their livelihood, social security, and overall quality of life.”
Training women to start nano businesses will go a long way toward assuring the country’s socio-economic progress. The cooperation with HPPI is a step forward towards socio-economic advancement, as it aligns with the Bank’s broader CSR strategy and the worldwide Sustainable Development Goals,” stated Rajan Pental, Global Head – Retail Banking, YES BANK.
“We at HPPI are pleased to partner with the YES Foundation to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged women,” said Kailash Khandelwal, Director of HPPI. “We are continually looking forward to opportunities that allow us to engage with India’s largest enterprises.”
